THE CUNNING FOX
WHEN HUNTING IS OVER. Docs a fox know when the hunting s.ason finishes? An incident which occurred .0 Mr. Guy Hargreaves, master of the South Berkshire hounds, a his home near Reading lately, seems to indicate that it docs. During last season Air. Hargreaves hunted from a spinney close to his lawns a number of foxes, several of which escaped the hounds. When ho looked out of his window recently ho saw a big fox strolling about on the edge of a lawn in full view, obviously having just come from the spinney. It showed no fear, and, axter looking at him, walked slowly away. Air. Hargreaves said he had not much doubt -hat the fo- ho sa v was one of those which had been hunted during the season. “It did not co- 0 up and shako har Is with ■ < xac y,” ho said, “but it came close to me and aeemed quite at home.”
