MEETING AT ADDINGTON N.Z. METROPOLITAN FIXTURE REGAL VOYAGE’S WIN AUGUST HANDICAP RACE [ Per Press Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 8. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s August meeting opened today. The weather was line with a odd ' east wind. The course was in good order and the attendance up to the standard of recent meetings. The totalisator investments were £20,278 10s, compared with £23,421 last year. Results were as follows: — Introductory Handicap. (Of £300; 14 miles.) 2 Gemlight, Humphreys 1 10—Boneta, Alanning 2 3 Repute, Frost 3 Also: 1 Great Way and Stand by (bracketed), 2 Mercc Bingen, 5 Lady Fan, 6 Nelson Ata, 8 Eileen Wood, 11 1 Nelson Boy, 12 Trampcrisp, 7 White Satm, 13 Fifa, 4 Stanley T. Gemlight led into the straight from Repute, Boneta, Lady Fan and Nelson Boy and won easily by five lengths from Boneta. Repute was three lengths away and Nelson Boy fourth. Times 3.28 3-5, 3.28 1-5, 3.29 3-5. Advance Handicap (Of £300; 11 miles.) 2—Priceless, McKcndry 1 I—Bracken,1 —Bracken, Al. Holmes 2 s—Herod, J. Bryce 3 Also: 3 Aristotle, 8 Checker, 7 Golden Harvest, 9 Goldworthy, 4 Great Chenault, 6 Location. With half a mile covered the leaders were Herod, Checker, Priceless, Aristotle, and Bracken. Priceless followed Herod into the straight with Bracken and Aristotle next. Ln a close finish Priceless won by a head from Bracken, with Herod a neck away. Aristotle was fourth, fimes 2.47, 2.48 l-5 ; 2.48 2-5. August Handicap. (Of £1000; two miles.) 1— REGAL VOYAGE, Withers ... 1 B—GLENROSSIE, Thomas ...... 2 2 NEEORO, Hcndriksen 3 3 DUNDAS BOY, Berry 4 Also: 6 Pluto, 4 Erin’s Fortune, 7 Lindbergh, 6 ALountain Dell, 14 Imprint, 9 Logan Chief, 12 Native Prince, 11 Jewel Pointer, 5 Roi I’Or, 10 Harold Logan. With six furlongs to cover Pluto was clear of Neeoro, Regal Voyage and Glcnrossie. Regal Voyage led into the straight from Pluto, Neeoro, Glcnrossie, Dundas Boy, and Alountain Dell. In the rur home Regal Voy agi won by a length and a half from Glcnrossie. Neeoro was three lengths away. Dundas Boy was a length back, fourth, and Alountain Dull fifth. Tactless and Somerby
had charge with a circuit to cover, followed by Ayrmont Chimes, John Jinks. Brentlight, Festival, Holly Bank, Black Lion and Nctta Oro. John Jinks went to the front two furlongs from home but Ayrmont Chimes finished better and won by two lengths, with Netta Oro Live lengths away. Brentlight was fourth. Warplane became prom in ent three furlohgs from home and the order into the straight was Satin King, Nelson de Oro, Aleteor, Warplane, ami Dillon Logan. Warplane finished well to win by a length and a-half from Meteor with Dillon Logan half a length away. Peter Pirate was fourth. Times 4.26 2-5, 4.27 3-5, 4.25 4-5. Selwyn Handicap. Entering the straight Avonwood led from Dilnon, Rollo, Great Logan and Pageant. Great Logan finished strongly and won by three quarters of a length from Tom Thumb, with Rollo two lengths away.
