EXECUTIVE MEETING [ Per Pres 3 Association. 1 PALMERSTON N., Aug. 5. A meeting of the North Island Motor Union executive disemred in committee the question of Main Highways finance. A letter wa-* received from the Premier stating that an opportunity would he given to motor unions to submit evidence before a select committee. It was reported that the union objected to the proposals of the Railway Department’s increased charges for using railway road bridges, of which there arc 23 in the Dominio.;, from £2662 to £lB,OOO. The secretary explained that an agreement had been reached between the Counties' Association and the union as to a r< asonablo, charge. The Main Highways Board informed tho union that it had decided that oil companies be requested to discontinue roadside advertising, and also that tho petrol price should bo reduced to a figure more on a parity with prices obtaining abroad.
