Telephone Voices.
How varied can be the metho 1 of introduction and enquiry, and how busines like a feminine voice can be was demonstrated when “Chronicle’’ telephones were ringing continuously for i n hour and a-half to two hours last night. Some voices were hesitant and slow while obviously another person was waiting for the line. Much introduction as tp whom the person might be and their place of residence was given in some cases. Others went straight to the point, but the best enquiry of all came from a femininen voice. It was “Rating poll results, please!” The line was disengaged in a moment, and with the click of the receiver the bell rang again. Such an enquiry helped the reporter, and allowed others to use the line immediately.
