FROM THE LOG:— MORINDA AT AUCKLAND. Making her initial trip in the new service between Norfolk Island and Auckland, the Burns-Philp steamer Morinda, from Sydney, via Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island, arrived at Auckland on Thursday morning. She is scheduled to have sailed on her return trip to Sydney, via Norfolk Island and Lord Howe Island yesterday. SUGAR FROM JAVA. An expected arrival at Auckland to-day is the Bank Line motor ship Leverbank, with raw sugar from Java. KALINGO REPORTS. En route from Newcastle to Wellington, the Union Company's Kalingo has reported by wireless that she expected to arrive in Wellington yesterday. She is to berth at the Miramar Wharf, and will later proceed to Wanganui to complete discharge. TALKIES ON WHITE STAR LINERS. What is stated to be the world's largest contract for maritime talkie equipment has been secured by the R.C'.A. Photophone. Ltd., for supplying the mail steamers Majestic, Olympic and Homeric, of the White Star Line, with complete talkie outfits. For the last three years silent films have been shown on three vessels, but talkies have now been fitted to keep pace with the latest developments . The talkies shown will all be pre-release or the latest big success, and in the case of the Majestic the equipment will consist of R.C.A. type H. Theatre equipment for use in the first clasa, while type E. Double Portable Projector will be used in the second class. In rhe Olympic first and second class and the Homeric first class the latter type will be used.
