REGISTRATIONS FOR WEEK A SLIGHT INCREASE SHOWN. (Per Press Associaton.) WELLINGTON, July 31. The unemployment registrations for the week ending July 27 totalled 47,772, an apparent increase of 234 compared with the previous week’s total. The Alinister <sf Labour, Hon. 8. G. Smith, states that the number of men who qualified under the No. 5 scheme and were placed in work was 35,135. A total of 5260 has been engaged under the No. 4a scheme and 950 under the 4b scheme. The men for whom no work was found totalled 6427, but it was probable, the Minister added, that the majority of these were unemployable. Total registrations in the cities are: Auckland 6861, Wellington 4638, Christchurch 5011, Dunedin 2845.
