SUBMARINE NOT SUITABLE. STEFANSSON ’S OPINIONS. Received July 31, 9.40 p.m. NEW YORK, July 31. Vilhjalmur Stefansson, the Arctic explorer, believes that Sir Hubert Wilkins will be unable to reach the North Pole this year because the summer is so far advanced. The submarine being used is old and unfit for the work, and may be forced to turn back.
