I A very successful “bring and buy" j afternoon was given by Mrs P. H. I Smith at her home. Upper Aramoho, lon Thursday, in the interests of the I Aramoho candidate (Alan Smith) in j rhe Y.M.C.A. “Popular Boy” contest. The drawing-room was decorated i with hydrangeas, pink heather and • stock, and a profusion of spring flow I er swore arranged in the dining-room. : The billiard room« was used as a | shop and the stalls were well laden j with a variety of goods and provisions. I Vegetables of every description were displayed on the porch and splendid business resulted. Each guest had ; been asked to appear wearing a repreI sentation of a book title and a coni’test took place, Aliss Warburton being tion. • The following toms were given dur- | ing the afternoon which were much appreciated by the sixty guests present: Songs by Mrs Luxford, Aliss Hall and { Miss Kendrick: violin solos by Aliss I Ward; pianoforte solos by Aliss Nelson ■ and Aliss Hall, who also played th? : accompaniment.'.
