The New Zealand cricketers continued their match against Minor Counties in line weather. The wicket was easy. The Counties were dismissed for 191, klicott and Lowry taking the last three tickets cheaply. New Zealand opened badly, Dempster Hid Weir both being caught in the slips. Mills and Merritt were associated in a free scoring partnership, but Merritt I * was dismissed after lunch. Mills carried on to score a brilliant century. He attacked the bowling front the start, and although he gave several ihances he was always master of the ittack. He went off to the only really tveak shot of his innings. He batted 218 minutes for 150, and hit 17 fours. Kerr showed signs of a return to bi* •ustomary enterprising batting. Lowry and Talbot both gave vigor )us displays. The Counties’ bowling was not difli suit, although the wicket played occas bnal tricks. New Zealand declared with the score it 361 for eight wickets.
