DISABLED SOLDIERS
CIVIL RE-ESTABLISHMENT ACT COMING INTO OPERATION [ Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, Juno 19. Tho announcement that the Government is making an immediate start to put into operation tho Disabled Soldiers’ Civil Re-establishment Act passed last year, was made by the Hon. J. G. Cobbo to-day. Although tho Act had been on tho Statute book since October, the Government has been unable, owing to the depression and finance stringency, to set the machinery in motion. As tho financial arrangements havo now been completed, it has been decided to ap point almost immediately tho local advisory committees, nominations lor which already have been received from all interested bodies except tho New Zealand Employers’ Federation, and at tho same timo appoint employment officers who will co-operate with the committee. When these appointments havo been made tho Pensions Department will bo in a position to receive and deal with applications from exsoldiers wishing to avail themselves of tho provisions of tho Act.
