ADJUSTMENT COURT
SITTINGS IN HAWKE'S BAY [ Per Press Association. ] NAPIER, June 19. The sittings of the Hawke’s Bay Adjustment Court, constituted under the provisions of the special earth quake legislation, commenced in Napier this morning, tho "Ihicf Justice, Sir Michael Al yers, having associated with him Afessrs H. ID. Vickery and C. von Haast. The. desirability of an amicable settlement between the interested person was emphasised by his Honou” in his opening address. He said ho would be quite willing to hear any matter which the parties wished to bring before its riotice, but nt the samj time it was highly desirable that wherev«. r possible the parties should set th the it affairs out of court. His 11 niotn also intimated that if he himself rhoiild be called away to attend sittings of the Court of Appeal. Mr Justice Reid nouU preside over the sitting of th? Adjust inent Court. So far only elevon applications for hearing have been filed with tho Registrar of tho Court, and his Honour hoped that thp parties woul 1 file th(.ii applications as earlv as possible. Tho advantage of consulting so'ic itors was also mentioned by his Hon on r. The majority of applications before the Court are being heard in camera.
