MONEY BY FRAUD
THREE BELIEF WORKERS IN COMFORTABLE CIRCUMSTANCES [ Per Press Associat.on.] CHRISTCHURCH, Juno 18. Before the Magistrate (Air Mosley) three men, described as relief workers were charged with obtaining money bv fraud from the Unemployment Board, and were ordered to refund the wages they had drawn from the board, in default seven to fourteen days’ imprison me nt in the worst case. Ono man was the owner of a large glass house growing tomatoes, while nis wifp had £lO9O of unencumbered property.
The ATagistrate said that no Court would put up with these frauds while the country was in such a parlous state. Future penalties would be heavier.
