ITES! MEET OUR ESTEEMED ITE, "AUNTY"

Dear Wendy. I see there i going to lie ' u big gathering of our grown-up Ites in our pages, so 1 thought 1 would add my little mite, too. I can't write such episodes or fairy tales as I am not good at romancing like "Madame X” and "Madcap," and a few others, but I will tel] you a little pleasant surprise I got last Wednesday. I went, to see the football match in town, and I had •i parcel given to me, which came by post, and in it I found a scented satchet a mascot golliwog, dressed in black velvet, with blue silk trimmings, and so nicely made. 1 also saw two letters, one from "Madame X" from [ “Mick,” which I delivered to her (as she i ( was with me in the car) and one from t I “White Forget-me-not.” Now, Wendy. ■ wasn't that kind of her to write to me anti give me a nice present of a mascot'.’ She wished me to name it “Gabriel.” so it happened our home team was playing, and blue and black is their colours. I took the mascot over to the line and watched the game. It must have brought luck for our boys won. 15 to 7. so the captain of the team wants to have "Gabriel” every time they play. Wenu.v. don’t you think I have a dear little friend to send me such a nice present? Will you tell “Laughing Lilac” that I received her letter alright, and I thank her very much for it, and I see she liked the snap of our pic-

’ nie, for she says she will go again if there is another one. Will you tell her I have been asked to hold another picnic and if all is well I may have another next January, so hope to see her and “Princess Betty” and “Brown Wallflower," C.W.K.. and all the other Ites who can come, but will let them all know later on. Dear Wendy. I have had two letters lately from another kind Ite, and it was dear "Mick," Z.S.W.M., who wrote to me, and what do you think. Wendy? She has offered to come up here with her car and take a few of wc Ites to the Wanganui Wendy picnic. Now, isn't that lovely of her? So I do hope it will be a nice day for I want to see all our city Wendyites there. Wendy, you must put in an appearance, also “Old Gran." who. I hope, is improving. My word, what escapades “Madcap” does have. 1 wonder what she thinks of her new photo, and I was wondering when I was going to hear from her again. Now, Wendy, will you tell "Dancing Joan” and "Bab’s Chum” if they see "Madame X” and myself again to come up and speak to us. “Madame X” said at the flower show, “1 think that is ’Dancing Joan,’ ’’ and we were going around to speak to them when they disappeared. 1 was sorry I did not see them. I muwt tell you that 1 have just found out that my own niece is a Wendyite, her pen-name is “Pip," but she has sadly neglected our pages <>f late, and so has “Babs” and “Sports Girl' and “Pixie,” we will have to get the Hut’s detective after them and a few others. I see "Madame X” has given a competition for our young Wendyites. It is very kind of her. I wonder who will Im? the lucky one? Well. Wendy. 1 must not take up any more space, so hope this finds yourself and all in the best of health. Before I close I must send my deepest sympathy to our little Ites in Mangaweka, in the loss of their dear mother. I knew her very well, so feel very sorry for them in their sorrow. I will conclude with best wishes to all.—From “AUNTY.” WendyOh. dear "Aunty." but this is really splendid of you. 1 was just telling our Sir Richard that you would be with us to-day. 1 knew you would not be absent during the re-union. What a large number of our folk have answered the call of our clan. So jolly to have them with us. How kind of "White Forget-me-not.” The mascot. she made and sent to you must indeed be a good luck bringer. So "Gabriel” is to be Wendytown’s Rugby team's mascot, too! What a generous-hearted Ite “Mick" is. Will it not he lovely to meet our Hut folk of the River Gity? I wonder, too, who will be the lucky winners of "Madame X’s" competition. Isn’t she just a brick ? Many thanks, dear, I am able to follow the names of the Ites appearing in the picnic snap you sent ms Wendy.
