GIRLS GO TO AFRICA
Two young society girls, Miss Marjorie Leigh, daughter of Sir John Leigh, and the Hon. Diana Fellowes, only sister of Lord de Ramsay, have been preparing for a big game hunting expedition (writes a Londoner). They are going out to East Africa at the end of this month as the guests of Baron and Baroness Blixon. Baron Blixen has a, large shooting and farming estate in East Africa where it is not uncommon tor lions to come and lie down on the lawn.
A pretty, fair haired girl. Miss Leigh is a. daring cross-country rider, and has followed the Quoni. the Cottesmore, and the Belvoir Hounds. She plays polo, drives her own motor car. and is a good shot. Miss Fellowes has also shown herself more than a novice as a marksman. The two friends are eager to have the opportunity of “baggfng” a lion or a buffalo. They will reach Dar-es-Salaam early in May and go from there to Mombasa and the prairies Beyond. They expect to be away until August. Miss Leigh owns the huntingbox Warwick Lodge. Melton Mowbray, and a fine stud of hunters. But she is selling her horses, as she is contemplating a world tour next winter. She has lately been staying at Witley Park, her father’s palatial home near Godaiming. on which the late Air Whitaker M right lavished a fortune. Miss Fellowes has hunted with the hounds frequently, and her daring .is a horsewoman has not been affected by the fact that she broke her collar bone in a hunting spill about twelve months ago.
