CONFERENCE DELAYED PLANS OF GOVERNMENT AUCKLAND, June 10. Owing to information that the Government ha s proposals for relieving tn employment among women ami girls, the Mayor of Auckland, Mr G. M. Hut ehison, has postponed the conference of local women’s organisations winch is to be held to discuss the matter. The Mayor stated yesterday -hat after the City Council had approved lie holding of a conference he received a letter from the Minister of Labour, the Hon S. G. Smith, asking him to arrange such a conference to consider proposals which the Government had formulated. The Minister apparently had not heard of the action the council was taking. Mr Hutchison said ho replied asking for details of the proposals, but so rar he had heard nothing more from the Minister. “I mention the matter because the many women's organisations which are interested may think the council has not been treating it ns urgent, said r- rhe Mayor. “Naturally, it would not be much use to call a meeting before We knew what the Go' crnment’s plans were. ’ 1 _
