FRENCH EXPERIMENT VILLAGE LOST FROM SIGHT VALUABLE AID TO DEFENCE [By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright] Received May 21. 5.5 p.m. PARIS, May 23 The creation of artificial fog to protest towns and villages in wartime is now regarded as a practical proposi tion. In the presence of Marshal Petain the whole village of Linsclles, near Lille, was blotted out, for half an hour from the air and land. A compound containing sulphuric anhydride and sulphuric acid was injected into four long iron tanks holding lime. Imine diatcly thick clouds emerged causing only a Slight I.armless coughing among the spectators. The cost will be small, and communities will be able to make their own protective >ni(>ke screens.
