POWER FOR DUNEDIN
ELECTRICITY FROM WAITAKI PURCHASE AGREEMENT SIGNED [ Ter Press AssoHation. 1 DUNEDIN. Alay 22. The Minister of Public Works, the Hon. W. B. Taverner, stated that finality had now been reached in regard to the purchase by the Dunedin City Council of electric power from the Government station at Waitaki and that an agreement between the city council and the Minister hail been signed. 'Pho agreement covers a ten year period from the date of commencement of the supply, the maximum suppl}’ which may be demanded by the city being 10,000 k.w. "By this agreement,” said Air Taverner, "Dunedin city has been saved the large expense which would have been necessary had it been decided to proceed with its suggested further devlopments at Waipori. On the other hand, the Government station at Waitak; has obtained a most important cus tomer. I think all concerned *n the negotiations may feel well satisfied at the satisfactory agreement reached.’’
