INVESTITURE STOPPED

GOVERNOR-GENERAL ACTS AN INCIDENT IN VICTORIA MELBOURNE, May 22. An investiture which was to have been held was stopped on the order of the Governor-General. The Victorian Consul for Czecho-Slovakia (Mr E. R. Peacock) who was to have been invested with the Czccho-Slovakian Republic Order of the White Lion, which is bestowed on distinguished citizen of foreign countries, but before the ceremony Was held a telegram was received from the military secretary to the Governor-General stating that it was not possible for Mr Peacock to accept the insignia until he had permission to do so from the King. The investiture was then postponed.
