HOME FOR VAGRANTS
AN AUCKLAND SCHEME ISLAND IN HA UR AKI GULF AUCKLAND, May 17. A scheme has been launched in Auckland to organise an art union for the purpose of raising funds to purchase a small island in the Hauraki Gulf to make a home there for vagrants. Several well-known Auckland people are interested, and already they have an option over the island and regard the price as bedrock. The island contains 360 acres of splendid farming land, and can immediately accommodate 60 men.
