LARGE HOUSE BURNT

BLAZE AT MT. KOSKILL [ Per Press Association. 1 AUCKLAND, May 17. Fire destroyed a three-storey wooden house of 16 rooms at Rostrcvor Avenue, Mt. Roskill, on Saturday evening. Only the shell of the front portion was left standing. The owner. Mrs B. M. Davis, and the occupiers of the flats, Air V. Stone and Air L. Banks, were all absent at the time. The Alt. Rnskill brigade had a hopeless task, the flames shooting from the roof and all sides of the building. Mrs Davis’ house was insured for £l5OO in the South British, the contents and piano for £3OO and £lOO respectively in the Ocean and Accident, and Mr Stone’s furniture for £3OO in the Ocean and Accident. Mr Bank’s insurances are not available.
