CANADIAN TARIFFS

POWERS OF NEW BOARD OTTAWA, May 15. Three members wih constitute the new Tariff Board. In addition to inquiring into tariff matters the Board will exercise some of the functions now exercised by officials of the National Revenue Department. The Premier (Mr Bennett) told the House to-day that the Board will be a court of record with power to exam inc witnesses under oath and compel at tendance. It will report direct to the .Minister of Finance. Its duties will include investigation of the cost of raw materials in Canada and other countries, the cost of transpoitation, and all factors entering into the cost of pro duction, and will make recommendations as to the tariff necessary to equalise the costs of production in Canada with those of other countries.
