TOWN BOARD AFFAIRS Tho usual monthly meeting of the Mangaweka Town Board was held in the Board’s office on Tuesday, May 12. Present: Cr. A. Miller (chairman), J. Graham and W. Watson. Leave of absence was granted Crs. Dickinson and Toms The engineer’s report was read and adopted as satisfactory. A letter was received from the Commissioner of Transport re Motor Drivers’ Regulations .1931, and also a copy of tho Act. A report was read from the Wanganui City Council enclosing heavy traffic returns for the year ending March 31, 1931. A letter was received from the Alatamata Town Board re expenses of loan unemployment committees. It was decided that notices be sent to owners of property notifying them to have their hedges cut back tc their boundaries where such henges are overhanging the footpaths. The clerk was instructed to write to Mr D. Barrell, expressing Sympathy of tho board with him in his recent bereavement. This motion was carried by tho board standing in silence for ono minute. Accounts amounting to £405 for the Town Board and £3 10s for the Library were passed for payment. The tender of Air Noble for the screening and delivery of metal at 4s 3d per yard was approved.
