SWIMMING
FOR THE OLYMPIC GAMES LOS ANGELES PREPARES STAIDIUM FOR TEN THOUSAND Construction will start immediately i on tho Olympic Swim Stadium in which will bo held the swimming, diving ani water polo events of tho Games of th» tenth Olympiad to be celebrated in Lor Angeles, California, from July 30 tn August 14, 1932, according to an announcement of the organising commit, toe for tho Games. The people of Los Angeles have vot-‘ ed funds for the Swim Stadium, which will be built in Olympic Park where Olympic Stadium, the Olympic Fencing Pavilion and Olympic Fine Arts Mu. scum are located. Plans for the Swim Stadium have been drawn in accordance .with Olympic requirements. The pool itself will be 50 metres (164 feet) in length 20 metres (65 feet) in width, and will vary in depth from 1.5 metres (4feet II inches) to 5 metres (16 feel 5 inches). Equipment will consist id' regulation international diving tower, with both wood and steel diving boards. The water to be used will be from the frosh water suply of the city of Los Angeles. Modern filtration and purification equipment will be installed. The grandstands will have a seatin'’ capacity of 10,000 people, ami ample dressing rooms, lounges, oflices for of lieinls and othe r ftteiDiies for tho Games will be provided. The stadium will be ot reinforced concrete construction ami will retnam after the games for per nianent usage.
