THE PROPOSED REDUCTION ME FORBES' ANNOUNCEMENT [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, May 11. The Government’s intention to ask Parliament to sanction a reduction In the wheat and flour duties nex - session, was announced by the Prime Minister today. It is proposed that from February 1, 1932, the duty on wheat shall be reduced by id a bushel and that on flour by £2 18s a ton. A base price of 4s 8J a' bushel is fixed for wheat, the duty on this being 9d, and a sliding scale operating as the price varies from the base. The price of flour is to be £l2 10s a ton, the duty being 325.
