ALLEGED FORGERY
THE BANK NOTE CASE COL I. INSON R E3IA NDE D (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Alay 11. Arrested at Auckland and remanded to Wellington, David Collinson, aged 35, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court to-day with being in possession without lawful excuse of forged Bank of New South Wales notes, knowing them to be forged. The police asked for a further remand, and counsel for accused asked for bail saying that accused was a married man with a child and had had a business in Auckland for the last live years. His instructions were that there was a good defence to tho charge and nothing was known against accus ed who had never been in trouble be fore. The police, however, stressed tho serious nature of the charge and sug gested that accused was tho leader, per haps, in a conspiracy to issue the notes. They wore issued in Auckland just bo fore Easter and quite a large number had been traced to accused. Bail was refused.
