The remand was granted. No Legal Access. When h person buys a property it is esential to find out deiinitely before the title is transferred whether it can claim legal access to a road. The Wanganui County Council, at several consecutive meetings now, has been faced with a, knotty problem which has arisen through a property owner, discovering late in the day. that he had no legal right to enter his land from the road. The matter is still in abeyance pending a very close scrutiny of titles in Wellington. Aeroplane or Submarine? “I am told that if 1 ger an anchor and run a wire rope over to my land and the other fellow’s property is underneath, I’m not legally allowed to get access that way,” said a Mangamahu ratepayer to the Wanganui County Council yesterday, sponsoring an appeal for the council to assist him to gain access to a small holding on the bunk of the Wangaehu River. “How about if I got an aeroplane?” Cr. ,1. Kennedy: Get one and try it on. I don’t suppose a submarine would be much use in that river.” “Cheer Up Week" for Wanganui. “Cheer Up Week’’ will be held in Wanganui at the time of the winter show. The secretary of the Wanganui Rugby Union stated at the meeting last evening that he had been approached and it had been suggesteu that the Union should put on two matches during the week. The idea was. said the speaker, that the week would be run for about £lOO or so. It was suggested that the Rugby Union should l»e a guarantor to the extent of 110. A voice: You do not want to get mixed up in guarantor business. Mr C. 11. Warden said that he was con needed with the organisation of the week, and that all should help to organ i-e it. The Auckland Rugby Union, it was pointed out, had staged a fanvy dress match during the week and also a ‘‘real dinkuni” match. After some discussion it was decided that the mat ter should be held over for a week for further consideration and should be brought up at the next meeting.
