It is officially announced that the total receipts in the Grand National sweepstake amounted to £1,755,963. The prize-money is £1,181,8.15, tho first prize being £354,544 ,tbc second £177,272, and the third £llB,lBl. A great, crowd awaited the draw and women linguists, one with a knowledge of Chinese, were ready to communicate the results to all parts of the world from which the tickets came, but with the exception of one South African all of tho drawers of horses are resident!: of Britain. LUCKY LONDONERS. THIRTEEN HORSES DRAWN. LONDON, March 24. Much to Ireland's disappointment, thirteen horses, including seven probable runners, have been drawn by Londoners who are assured of a minimum of £l2Bl apiece. An Italian cafe keep or at Batersea Park, with forty relatives, all shareholders, and a Lambeth gtocer, hold Isola ami Me Derays Belle. The staff of the Y.M.C.A. Hotel at Clapham Road, despite the attitude of the institution regarding horse racing, hold Drimmond. LUCKY WELLINGTONIAN. LONDON, March 24. A Wellington resident, V. S. Hunt, has drawn a consultation prize of £llBl in the Irish sweepstake.
