SHOOTING
ON THE OPEN RANGES DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB LAST SATURDAY’S SHOOT Although a variable wind gavt trouble to most competitors on Saturday the conditions generally were the best since the long range competitions commenced. This resulted in better scoring, and in particular, a brilliant effort by Rfm. Ben Shaw, whose 48 at each range entitles him to a club’s silver spoon. His win was a popular one and was greeted in a manner which such a score deserves. As the result of this competition many alterations have occurred in the aggregates for the cups, and, in view of the present close position of many competitors* most interesting finals should be witnessed next Saturday. In view of the Wairarapa meeting being /held on 18th inst. and the N.R.AJ championships commencing on the 20th, the teams shoot which was arrange for the 21st at Putiki, is cancelled, and a practice will be held at Aramoho instead. The following arc Saturday’s results:—
Advice has been received that the Taranaki Association will be using white targets with black “Tin Hat’’ at their meeting during Easter.
