■ BUTTER SLOW AT 120 -122 - CHEESE QUIET AT 56/60/-. | The London butter market continue.-* steady, although the demand is slow. New Zealand salted selling at 120/122/ and up to 124/-. Itetail prices are unchanged, New Zealand at Is 3d and Danish at Js 5d per lb. The cheese market is quiet. New Zealand full cream has commanded a definite premium of 1/- a cwt over •'standardised’’ during the last two weeks. The retail price is unchanged at 9d per lb. Th ■ market tor Canadian cheese is slow at 745-78 s, which represents a premium of 18s to 20s a cwt. over New Zealand. The Dairy Board’s London ofiice gives the following quotations ruling on Friday, with those for the previous week in parentheses;— Butter. New Zealand, salted, J2os and 122 s up to 124 s (120 s to 1235; Marell 7, 1930. 138 s to 140 s); unsalted, i24s to J2Bs up to 130 s (126 s to 130 s; March 7. 1930. 148 s to 1565); first whey, 116 s (118 s second whey, 114 s (116 s Argentine, unsalted, 120 s to 122 s to 124 s (122 s to 126 s to 128 s). Danish, 132 s f.0.b.; 140 s to 142 s spot (1355; 140 s to 1445). Dutch, unsalted, 136 s to ,138 s (144 s to 1465). Australian, salted, 120 s to 122 s (119 s to 121 s to 1225); uusalted, 122 s to 126 s (122 s to 1265). Cheese. New Zealand, white, 56/57/-, ex 58> (57s to 58s; March 7, 1930, 83s to 84s); 'coloured, 58s to 60s (58s to 60s; March 7, 1930, 83s to 84s). Australian, white, 56s (56s to 575): coloured, 57s to 58s (57s to 58s). Canadian, white. 74s to 76s to 78? (74s to 78s); coloured, 74s to 78s ( —). English finest farmers, 100 s to 106 s (100 s to 106 s). Deliveries and Stocks. Deliveries of New Zealand butter for the week were 1900 tons, compared with 1600 tons a year ago. The quantity in store, including 138 tons ex Corinthic, 200 tons ex Port Huon, and 1038 tons ex Baranga, is 4400 tons, as against 7000 tons a year ago. The Port Huon started discharging her butter on March 3 and the Corinthic on March 4. The Baranga finished discharging on March 5. Deliveries of Australian butte? for the week were 1475 tons, as against 1375 tons a year ago. The quantity in store is 950 tons, as compared with 2611 tons a year ago.
Deliveries of New Zealand cheese for the week were 18.500 crates, as against 25,500 crates a year ago. The quantity .in store, including 16,000 crates ex Port Huon, is 128,229 crates, as compared with 110,481 crates a year ago. The Raranga finished discharging her cheese on February 28, the Corin thic on March 2, and the Port Huon on March 3. Deliveries of Canadian cheese for the week were 2200 boxes, as against 3542 boxes a year ago. The quantity in store is 157,930 boxes, as compared with 129,797 boxes a year ago. Shipments for London. Three shipments totalling 70,703 boxes of butter and 56,730 crates of cheese left New Zealand last week for London. The Surrey, vhich sailed on February 27, took 50,731 boxes of butter and 29,847 crates of cheese. The Coptic, which left Wellington on March 4. took .10,140 boxes of butter and 14.857 crates of cheese. The Herminius, which sailed on Thursday, took 9832 boxes of butter and 12,026 crates of cheese.
