Mr Arthur Muller, of the relieving staff of the Wanganui Post Office, has been transferred to a similar position at New Plymouth. Mr Muller takes up his work at New Plymouth this week. Among the guests at present at Foster’s Hotel are: Mr and Mrs Proudfoot, Miss McKay, Mr and Mrs P. McLaren, Mr and Mrs Hughes, Messrs J. Didsbury, Mr Brittons and J. M. Jack, Mr and Mrs E. C. Jack, Mr and Mrs J. R. Lemon and Mr and Mrs Paul Lemon (Dunedin). Visitors to the Manawatu Club's race meeting at Awapuni on Boxing Day included Sir Michael and Lady Myers, Sir Charles Clifford, of Christchurch, Mr Ralph Lowry, of Moawhango, Mr Vivian Riddiford. Dr. Gilmer, of Wellington. Mr Russell Grace, of Wanganui, Mr T. Duncan, of Hunterville, Mr C. F. Vallance, Mr A. A. Cameron, of Masterton, Mr W. Duncan, of Mataroa, Mr F. Hamilton, of Nelson, Mr and Mrs C. Boyle, of Wellington. The death occurred on Sunday, December 21, of Mr Walter Wadey, of Wanganui, who for 37 years was employed by the late Mr N. Meuli. Air Wadey was born at Eastergate, Sussex, England, in the year 1856. He came to New Zealand 55 years ago in the sailing ship Rangitikei, landing at Lyttelton, and a little later came to Wanganui, where he resided up to the time of his death, lu the death of Air Wadey, Wanganui has lost another of its oldest links of early settlement, and he will be missed from this district as he was always willing to help in any way circumstances warranted. The deceased leaves a widow and three sons — Messrs Walter (Auckland), Bert and George (Wanganui)—and two daughters, Mrs F. Lane and Airs H. Aloore, both of Wanganui. The late Air Wadey was an active and energetic member of the Wanganui bran'ch of the New Zealand Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners for many years, and was held in the highest esteem by his fellow members for his unswerving loyalty and sterling qualities of character.
