PRIMARY PRODUCE

EXPORTS ANALYSED BUTTER income keeps up RESULT of larger output £Per P-»as Association.] -HAMILTON, Dec. IS. -penning to-day with regard to wool •rices and the decline in values. Mr '•Valter Nash, secretary of the Labour Party, said the latest figures showed the export values for the ten months ended October 31 were £7,000,000 down compared with the figures for the corresponding period of last year. Ihe decline was not so real as was suggested by the figures, in that the quantity exported had declined over 100,000 bales. It was obvious that the sheep farmer was hard hit and it might be necessary to take steps to ensure that the smaller man be given assistance necessarv to enable him -o continue on his farm. Whilst the price of butter bad declined to a great extent, the total income of the dairy farmer from butter exported for the first ten months of the year was equal to that of last vear." This had been brought about by a large increase in production due. no doubt, to the more scientific methods used. In this connection. Mr Nash stated that the Labour Party would support the Government in any measures to ensure a fully organised and operatirgi agricultural scientific research department. Whatever Government assistance was required to bring the most scientific knowledge and resources to the assistance of the dairy farmer. would be supported by the Labour Party.
