SATURDAY MORNING’S WORK NIGHTMARCH GOES SEVEN CHRISTCHURCH, Dec- 13. Conditions were pleasant this morning for training at Riccarton, when some useful work was done on the plough. P- Mason started by sending his team the reverse way. The other Auckland candidate, Ilkley, was lame. Pride and Dodge did work of a useful order. They all look well. Ramo and Sol wit, two promising West Coast candidates, did six furlongs the reverse way in Imin 20sec, going comfortably. Paquito was kept to easy pace work. First Sight did seven furlongs in Imin 30sec, a useful effort, as he did it well. Craigavon sprinted six furlongs in Imin 18 2-ssec, Coroner being eased

up after going the first five. Spoon, with a light weight up, did seven furlongs in Imin 29 2-ssec, Meprisant taking Imin 30sec with a heavier rider. Both went really well. Footfall did the last nine furlongs of a mile and a quarter gallop in 2min 1 2-ssee, going freely all the way. He looks in excellent order.

Full Feather did nine furlongs . in 2min 0 2-sscc, Ball Dress accompanying him over the last seven. This was. a useful effort, as he finished wellStraightcourse, Owlsflight, Sharp Thorn, and Porlock, who will accompany Full Feather when he goes north, did easy tasks. They are very wellThe two-year-old Porlock looks a good prospect for the holidays. Count Cavour was given only steady work. Tt seems doubtful if he will go to Auckland. Gustavo and Great Star did seven furlongs in Imin 30 2-sscc the reverse way, finishing together after a useful gallop. Ravine sprinted six furlongs in Imin 18 2-ssec, going comfortably. This horse is very well.

(Don Jose did a working gallop over a mile and a quarter. He is in great fettle for his trip north, where, he is likely to win a good race.

Sight Draft beat Pixie, Gold over five furlongs in Imin 3 4-ssec. Silver Coot did six furlongs in Imin 16 l-ssec, a very smart gallop. Nightmarch galloped seven furlongs the reverse way in Imin 28 2-ssec, True Shaft accompanying the last half-mile in 51sec. Both horses arc in great order for the Auckland trip. H. Donovan’s team for Dunedin. Topere, Appeal, Sapient, and Merry Peel, were given useful workPangolin went seven furlongs in 1 min 32 l-ssec, after doing the first, half in 52 l-ssec- He looks bright and well. Fresh Breeze and Huntley jumped two hurdles twice, giving a creditable display. Mime schooled over three hurdles well after showing a strong objection to commence his task. Beau Geste did useful half-pace work.

After Ten, formerly in H. Nurse’s stable, has been sold to Mr E- H. Cuthbertson, South Canterbury, and left for his new home this morning. Probably he will compete in hurdle races at Wyndham and Invercargill.
