SUMMER BLOOMS

BULLS ANNUAL SHOW GOOD PUBLIC PATRONAGE. The annual flower show, run under the auspices of St. Andrew’s and St. Martin’s churches, attracted a large attendance on Monday afternoon, and a good number also attended in the evening, when games and competitions were the chief amusements. > Mr J. Linklater, M.P.. who was intro . duced by the Vicar (Rev B. R. White), I declared the show open, and said that | it was a pleasure to open such a very I fine show, and the excellence of the exhibits surprised him very much, the weather being unfavourable for flower and vegetable growing this spring, and he felt that he must congratulate the exhibitors on the diligence with which they had protected the exhibits against the' rigorous and trying conditions. The show was n credit to the exhibitors and to the secretarial staff, who hail done good work. One feature which appealed to him was the keen competition in the cookcrv classes. It was a uood thing to encourage the rising generation in these arts, as bad cooki.-g was the cause of many domestic disturbances (laughter).
