OBITUARY
MRS. J. WAINHOUSE The death occurred at the age of 62 a* the Wanganui Hospital on Saturday afternoon, of Mrs AVainhousc. Dcceas cd was the wife of Mr J. Wainhousc. who for a period of 25 years was constable in charge of the Gonville area. Although Mrs Wainhousc had been ailing for four years her death was unexpected. Last April in company with her husband she went to Sydney on a holiday visit to her only daughter. Mrs J. Monk. A considerable improvement
in health resulted, but it did not prove of a permanent nature. The deceased, prior to her marriage in 1890. was Miss Eliza Westbrookc Street ami was a daughter of Now Zealand born residents of Lyttelton. After her husband was transferred from the Permanent
Artillery to the Police Force in .1895, the couple came to Wanganui where they took up what proved to be their permanent place of residence. Of a quiet disposition the deceased took little part in public life, but she was very widely respected. The funeral took place at the Aramoho cemetery yesterday afternoun and was largely attended. Members of the Police Force, including Inspector J. Mcllveney. {Senior-Sergeant McLean, Sergeant Dunsford, and Detective J. Walsh, were present. The pall bearers were Messrs W. Eudes, S. Cole, C. Breed and A. Taylor. The deceased leaves two brothers, Messrs R. and C. Leonard, a sister, .Mrs C. Long (all of Auckland), a daughter.
Mrs J. Monk, of Srsnry, anti a son. Robert, of Wanganui East. There are two grand-children.
