SIR C. FERGUSSON’S MAZER. [Per Press Association.] Received Nov. 21, 9.30 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 20. Sir Charles Fergusson’s mazer, consisting of a riap'ewood bowl with a silver rim, believed to have been made in Edinburgh in 1576, and the fourth oldest example of Scottish silver bearing a hallmark, realised £6OOO a* Sothebv’s.

According to legend, it was the gift of the Scottish Ki.;g James to Fergusson’s ancestor, who was tutor and chaplain.
