ALLEGED ROBBERY
THREE PEOPLE CHARGED. [Per Press Association. | AUCKLAND, Nov. 20. A man and two women were committed for trial on a charge of stealing three cheques valued at £321. Accused are William Alfred Phillips, aged 46, Belle Field, aged 34, and Muriel Hilda Holmes, aged 31. Tho police alleged Phillips met a man named Harrington in an hotel and invited him to stay the night. Next day ho took him to a house where the two accused women lived. When they finally parted company the next day Harrington had three shillings left. Harrington, in evidence, said that he woke up and found himself on a bed with Holmes leaning over him feeling his pockets. Field camd in, saying, “Here, I want to be in this.”
The Magistrate said that it was fortunate that payment of tho largest cheque had been stopped
