EMPIRE MARKETING BOARD
The Prince of AValcs and the Prime Ministers of the Dominion were the guests at dinner of tho Empire Marketing Board. The function took place at the Imperial Institute, and was followed by a reception. Both passed off very successfully. The guests at tho dinner included Sir Austen Chamberlain and Sir John Simon. Meanwhile the ladies were entertained at dinner, Mrs J. H. Thomas having one party and Miss Ishbel MacDonald another. By 10.30 p.m. they, and some thousands of guests, assembled at tho Imperial Institute for tho reception. The guests were received by the Prince of AVales, and the Right Hon. J. H. Thomas and Mrs Thomas. All throe shook hands with each one, and they were so engaged for forty-five minutes. Tho reception was held in the lower halls of tho building, whoso walls now display quite a picture gallery composed of posters put out by the Empire Marketing Board, all with the view to encouraging trade within the Empire. In the cinema hall, films were shown during tho evening—all of them useful propaganda. One dealt with the unloading of New Zealand lamb at. the Port of London. It was well past midnight before the guests had left. Many notable people were present, and there were many beautifully dressed women. The general topic of conversation seemed to be Empire preference, judging by tho remarks heard as one passed from court to court in the building.
