Thousands of people are continually) grumblin g about life in a general kind of Waj>. They say it is hard on them, and they don’t get a chance. In a number of cases it must be admitted that the grumblers are not quite playing the game. They are not treating life fairly. They are abusing its privileges, asl(ing for trouble. It is Well to indulge in a little mental stocl(-lalt 'ng occasionally, to see if anything can be done to improve things. Are your nerves frayed? They are? Well, don’t rush off to the doctor, or grumble that Jiou have too much work to do. Cut down your cigarettes. Any number of "nervy" people are really suffering from tobacco poisoning. Is life gloomy? It is? Then you are probably giving way to peevishness, letting things worry you too much. Smile once in a while. Are you suffering from over-tiredness? Ask yourself, honestly, if you are devoting 100 many of your spare moments to pleasure and 100 few to sleep. Sleep is the greatest healer Nature has to offer. Just try a big dose occasionally, and see how much better you feel. Are you always hard-up? Maybe you don t get much money, but there are ways and means of cutting down expenditure, and relieving the hard-pressed coffer. Are you getting into a groove? If so, it is because you are lazily taking the line of least resistance. You are trying to take life 100 easily and you are getting precious little fun out of it in consequence. Try something different. Change your reading matter, your mode of dressing, your food —anything you lilfc —but don't blame life for your own lack of initiative.
