LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY
CASTLECLIFF SURF SECTION ELECTION OF OFFICERS A general meeting of the Castlecliff Surf Section of the R.L.S.S. was held in the Y.M.C-A. rooms last night. There was a good attendance and a fair amount of business was put through.
The election of officers resulted as follows: Chairman: Mr J. Manly; secretary: Mr J. O’Brien; captain: Mr C. Perrett; vice-captain: Mr K- Congrieve; treasurer: Mr J. O’Brien; cos tunic steward: Mr J. O’Brien; instructors: Messrs E. Gilberd and I. Harkness; committee: Messrs H. W. Cooper, I- Harkness, C. Perrett; J. Manly, OMaitland. .1. O’Brien (nom. by R.L.S.S.) and C- O’Brien, D. Lucas and W. Cameron. Five teams have been selected for the Gibson Challenge Cup competition to be held in the near future. Training nights are Tuesday night at Y.M.C-A. and Thursday night at Castlecliff, training to start next Tuesday night. Teams were selected as follows: E. Gilberd (capt-), B. Tasker, Soloman, Constantine. K. Congrieve (capt.), C. O’Brien, D. Lucas, T. Harkness. J- O’Brien (capt.), J. Holly, J. Camera. J. Kjoss. Lucas (capt-), E. Hollv 0. Maitland, Clarke. C. Perretf (capt.), Crozier, Gerrills. Currie. In view of the forthcoming championship to be held in Wanganui it. behoves every member to commence training and also for intending members to join up as soon as possible. It was decided to procure new costumes ami new caps; also a line for the new reel recently procured from Australia. A “Busv Bee” meeting will be held in the club’s rooms at Castlecliff on Sunday. A full attendance is essential.
