EXPORT LAMB PRICES
AUCKLAND OPENING SALES. Chief interest in the live stock markets at present centres around t’rc prices that are being paid by exporters for lambs. The opening prices for lamb on the hooks in Auckland works were
announced at the Waikato Show on Wednesday as follow: —Prime lamb, under 361 b, 7|d per lb; 361 b to 421 b, 7d; over 421 b, 63d; seconds, lt is
emphasised that these prices-only cover lambs available for November shipment. The reservation is important, says the Auckland Star, and it is likely that farmers will take the fullest advantage possible of the opportunity to clear some portion of their stock at prices that, although id lower than last year, must, on the whole, be considered satisfactory. Unfortunately the boisterous weather experienced in late September and October brought about a serious setback, and really well finished lambs are at present scarce. The Hertford is due to load at Auckland next week, and to leave on November 19 for London. A fe w thousand from early drafts will bo dispatched in thai vessel, which should roach her destination round about Christmas time.
