LARGE WHALE CHASED
ADVENTUROUS FISHERMEN SYDNEY HARBOUR INCIDENT A large humpback whale, the third within three months, found its way into Sydney Harbour recently, and was the object of a lively chase by a number of adventurous fishermen in launches for some time. It was calculated to be 35ft. in length. The monster was first seen in Double Bay. Within a short time a number of launches had set out in pursuit, but only succeeded in frightening it. and, during its short stay, it was rarely seen. Its periodic and momentary appearances on the surface soon showed that it was seeking its way to the open sea, but the chase was kept up until it had reached North Hoad.
At this stage the whale, suddenly alarmed, sprang completely out of ths water amid a welter of foam, and fell back with a crash like an explosion, raising a shower of spray 20 ft. into the air. He war, last seen making in a northerly direction along the coast.
