INCREASES IN TARIFFS Received Nov. 9, 8.30 p.m. SANTIAGO, Nov. 8. It is reported in authentic circles today that the Chilean Government is considering a general increase in the import duties, especially on products competing with Chilean industries. Some proposed tariff changes reach 35 per cent. SHIPPING INTERESTS COMBINE Various independent Chilean passenger freight shipping companies have virtually agreed to pool their interests into one company for operating purposes in order to compete more effectively with foreign lines.
