DIFFICULTY ARISES

CLUB FOB LONELY PEOPLE. London’ s first club for lonely people was opened recently in St. Michael’s Retreat. Pilgrim Street, E.C. It is called the Trusty Friends’ Club, and its originator is the Rev. J. R. Sankey, rector of St. Andrew-bv-the-Wardrobe Church, St. Andrew’s Hill, E.C. The club’s only difficulty is that of finding members, for lonely people in London refuse to admit that they are lonely. Mr Sankey says he knows cases of men and women being so bored with their own company that they have sat in station waiting-rooms for a whole Bunday evening.
