General situation. —The anti-cyclone has passed away eastward and an intense depression is moving on to tho Dominion. Forecast. —Winds: Strong northerly to westerly, reaching gale force at many places. Seas (N.Z. waters): Heavy on the west coast south of Cape Egmont; rough thence north and off-shore south of Castle Point; elsewhere moderate, but rising. Tasman Sea; Strong' z north to west winds to gale in the eastern Tasman Sea, with rough' seas later, winds backing to southwesterly. Weather: Cloudy, unsettled and squally generally, with rain in the western and southern districts; heavy falls, with some flooding, on the west coast of the South Island; later rain becoming more general; thunder in places. Sun rises. 6.19 a.m. Sets. 5.22 p.m.
