One of Sydney’s leading surgeons, Sir Alexander MacCormick, K.C.M.G., M.D., has been appointed a director of the Bank of New South Wales, to fill tho vacancy by the resignation of Mr James burns.

Major G. H. W. Bayley, accompanied by Mrs Bayley and their son and daughter, Mr P. Bayley and Miss N. Bayley, arrived in Wellington by the Ruapehu on Friday. Major Bayley intends settling in New Zealand, probably as a dairy farmer.

Among the guests at Foster’s Hotel are: Mr Wilfred Shaw (Auckland), Miss Jcfferd (Hastings), Miss D. Charlton, Messrs R. Charlton and C. Pearce, Mr and Mrs W. D. Gordon and Miss McKinnon (Auckland), Mr P. Kellar, Messrs A. E. Christie and W. Christie (Stratford).
