BRIDE AT SEVENTY-FOUR
PRINCE TO WED GRANDMOTHER CHILDREN 'S LEGAL ACTION Princess Amedeo de Broglie, aged 74, one of the wealthiest women in Franco, recently announced her engagement to Prince Don Louis Ferdinand of Bourbon, aged 42, a cousin of King Alfonso of Spain. With the announcement of the engagement comes the news that the children of Princess Amedeo have filed a suit asking the couuts to remove the care of their mother’s estates from her hands. They allege that she is dissiTpating her fortune on her youthful fiance and intends to dispose of her jewels, her historic home, Chaumont Castle, in Touraine, and other property. Princess Amedeo has engaged Mr HenryTorres, the French criminal lawyer, to fight her children’s claim. Prince Louis was engaged last year to Mrs Mabelle Gilman Corey, widow of the American steel king. Their betrothal was one of the events of the Paris season last spring, but was postponed indefinitely “because of a misunderstanding over the money settlement.” Princess Amedeo is a grandmother, a highly cultured woman, and one of the leading figures in Paris society. She has known Don Louis since he was a little boy. Prince Louis is the son of the Infanta Eulalia, an aunt of King Alfonso, and has spent most of his time at his mother’s castle at San Romo. “I know that they were both together at Rappalo, hut I never thought they would become engaged,” Infanta Eulalia said, in speaking of the engagement. “I hope and pray it is not true. What can I say except that this match is so strange! The princess is 74. Don Louis is only 45 and looks younger.”
