The weather was fine and the wicket good for the continuation of the cricket match between Australia aiq.l Sussex. The Australian last wicket partnership produced 118 in 110 minutes. Sussex began in spirited fashion. Bowley and Parks raising 36 in half an hour- At 68 Hornibrook dismissed the former. Parkes was fifty iu 105 minutes. He and Cooke continued to bat with ski.l and freedom. Sussex’s 150 took 130 minutes. Parkes, after an excellent innings lasting 145 minutes, including nine boundaries played Hornibrook on. * At the tea adjournment County was iu a good position, having lost three wickets for 212 runs. Cook’s fifty occupied 100 minutce. Three wickets fell in quick succession. Tate batted vigorously, hitting Grimmett for two fours and a six in one over.

The last six wickets added only 57. Cooke was unconqucrcd, having batted for 170 minutes. He gave a chanceless display, including six fours. Hornibrook maintained a good length throughout. Ponsfcrrd and Jackson gave attractive displays for the remaining quarter of an hour. Scores were as follow:
