HIGH COMMISSIONER’S ADVICE The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 30th ultimo, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—• Tallow.—Fair demand at auction; 707 packages offered, 385 sold. Spot market remains steady with little change in prices. Hemp.—Manila market dull. “K” grade August/October shipments sold at £2O 12s 6d. Sisal: African sisal market quietly steady with no change in price. Mexican unchanged. New Zealand; Small enquiry has been made but no first hand sales reported. Apples.—Trade very slow. Present quotations for New Zealand are: Dougherty 7s to 10s; Stunners 6s to 9s. Wool.—-Bradford market quiet, but fairly steady Fifty-sixes tops now quoted at Is 64d to Is 7d, others unchanged. Oats.—English crop has been affected by adverse weather, but threshing has taken place. During last week best white new crop offered 17s 6d to 18s; old crop white making 19s to 20s. Market for imported is quiet. Plate fair average quality for September shipment sold 13s 6d and October shipment 13s 10id. Chilean offered 14s. Nominal value Now Zealand <f A’* grade Gartons 21s 6d. Peas.—Maple: English old crop slightly dearer and best made 465, with new crop offered at 40s. Imported steady. New Zealand and Tasmanian offers scarce. New Zealand 1929 crop sold up to 60s; 1930 crop scarce and No. 1 sold 635. grade Tasmanian 1930 crop sold 675. Blues: Small business confined to Dutch and English. N«. demand for Colonial, of which nominal value is £ll 10s c.l.f. London.

Beans.— firm, old crop winter making 37s to 39s and spring 41s to 44b. Imported steady, with fair enquiry for Chinese Horse at £8 to £8 7s 6d c.i.f. for any shipments up to November. Danish cocksfoot.—Weak early this month, but now more steady; Acreage reported larger than last year. New crop for October/November shipment offered at 66s c.i.f.
