RAPANUI CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD ELECTION' OF OFFICERS The annual meeting of members of the RapAnui Bowling Club was held at the offices of Messrs Watt, Currie and Jack, there being a fair attend* anee. Ift presenting the annual report the president, Af- George Russell, congratulated the member** on the continued prosperity of tho Club, and thanked them for their kindly interest which was so much in evidence during the year. Several members spoke in commendatory strain and Mr Jack made a special reference to the Work of the president, who personally had done ao much in materially reducing labour costs. On his motion a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded tho president. Tho annual report and balance-sheet were presented and adopted, the report being as follows: The committee have pleasure in presenting herewith the eleventh annual report and statement of accounts, for tho year ending Maj' 81, 1930. The season opened in October and closed In April. The weather in tho early part of the season was bad, but the latter part of the season was good. The green was in splendid playing order, and very keen, and many enjoyable games We're played. The membership stands at 24 active and 7 honorary.

The club competed in tho Nixon Cup competitions and had some very line games with their fellow clubs. Members wero also represented in tho Champion Pairs by Messrs G. S. Gordon and T. V. Brown, tho Champion Singles by B. Willis and tho Gordon Pairs by Messrs Geo. Handley and A. Roberts and B. Willis and T. V. Brown. Messrs Handley and Roberts played in tho final game with a St. John’s pair and had a very hard game, but had to how to defeat. Three lady members of tho club, Mcsdatnes T. V. Brown, W. N. Johnson and A. Handley, were chosen to play a link of ladies from tho Canadian bowling patty, and after a most enjoyable game they proved the victors.

The Rapanui ladies were ably assisted by Mrs Fred Cunningham, of St. John’s Club. In the Centre tournaments the club was represented at the Christmas and Easter tourneys. A rink also journeyed to Nftpier and took part in the tournament held there. During tho year the club held a pairs competition, which was won bv Mrs Johnson (lead) and W. Sutnmerell (skip), each with 8 wins, Mrs Johnson played splendidly all ' through her games and thoroughly deserved het Wins. Tho club is greatly indebted to Messrs R. S. Brown, F. Handley, Goo. Russell, W. Park and G. S. Gordon fot their generosity in presenting such fine trophies for competition. On January 22 the usual Pairs One* Uay Competition was played and Messrs Geo. Handley (skip) and W. Park (lead) proved the winners. Tho club wAs visited by a rink from

Terrace End mid Ncl-oii. while foul rinks from Western Park (Hawcra) and five from Waverlcy Club also favoured us with a visit. All the games Were very much enjoyed by those taking part and it is hoped this coming season to return those visits. The Club, in conjunction with St. John's Bowling Club, paid a visit to Western Park and Palea Club.M and a most enjoyable time was spent. Tho statement oZ accounts as submitted shows again an improvement in the club’s l affairs. The bank overdraft shows an appreciable decrease. Many thanks are duo to those who laboured on the green, which enabled the labour charges to be les? than any time in the dub’s history. The club’s property and plant have been well maintained and are in good order and condition The club’s best thanks are due to the ladies for their very kind interest ant assistance.

In conclusion, a special word o thanks is due to the grsen superintend ent, Mr J. B. Jack, for his kindly ad vice at all times. Thanks are also due to Mr C. F. Winks, the gfeenkeeper, for tho way ho kept the green during the season. Election of Officers

The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr George Russell (re-elected); vice-president, Mr Fred Handley; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr Bert Willis (re-elected); committee, Messrs Johnson, McKie, A. Handley, G. Handley Low, T. V.
