PACIFIC CONFERENCE

EDUCATIONAL PROBLEMS. INTERESTING ADDRESS. HONOLULU, Aug. 14. A general survey of the education problems of Pacific countries was made by Dr. Anna Brinton, c. America, at this morning’s session of the Women’s Pan-Pacific Conference.

Other addresses dealt with various phases of education, and included an able one on religious education in Japan by Aliss Shizu, of Kawasaki, and another on new tendencies in Latin America, by Sonora de Aldag, of Alexico.

Nursery schools and libraries were the subjects f addresses at a public meeting last night. The conference committee has decided to admit associates to round-table conferences without the right to speak or vote. The hospitality of Honolulu residents is increasingly generous. The British Consul will entertain the British delegates on August 2. Afembers of the conference will be the guests in the afternoon of the Daughters of Hawaii Women’.- Society, which was organised to preserve buildings and memorials in Hawaiian history. A party was held at the house of the former Queen of Hawaii. The house is now a museum. The entertainment was delightful. Traditional songs and dances are not performed except on such special occasions. Dr. Sweet will speak on international relationships to-night.
